Are online ADHD tests for kids or teens reliable?
Online screeners can be a useful first step, but they are not the same as a diagnosis. They tend to miss context that matters for children, like how a child behaves at school versus at home, or whether something else, such as anxiety or a learning difference, might be driving the behavior. If an online test raises a flag, it is worth following up with a full evaluation from a licensed provider.
What are the different types of ADHD in children?
ADHD in children generally falls into three presentations: predominantly inattentive, predominantly hyperactive-impulsive, and combined type, where both sets of symptoms show up. The inattentive type can be less obvious and easier to miss, especially in girls, because it looks more like daydreaming than disruption.
What's the difference between an ADHD assessment, evaluation, testing, and screening?
These terms get used loosely, but they mean different things. A screening is a quick tool, often a questionnaire, used to flag whether a fuller look is worth pursuing. Testing usually refers to the standardized rating scales and measures used during a full evaluation. An assessment or evaluation is the complete process: interviews, testing, history review, and a written result you can act on. A screening alone should never be treated as a diagnosis.

A positive screening result means it is worth scheduling a full evaluation, not an immediate diagnosis on its own. Book time with a licensed provider who can look at the complete picture, including developmental history, school input, and standardized testing. That is the surest way to know for certain and to walk away with a plan you can act on.
